John Francis Rogers, 77, passed away November 16, 2020. He was born April 6, 1943 to Preston Edward and Dorothy Estelle (Hall) Thomas. John served in the United States Army as a Private in the Artillery Division and was stationed at Fort Irwin in California, before being honorably discharged. He was primarily employed as a carpenter at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and later worked as a General Supervisor with Aldridge Electric in Freeman, VA. John was an avid softball player and was inducted into 5 Hall of Fames. He also enjoyed golf and was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
John is survived by his wife Candice Longfellow Rogers, children Denise Rogers and wife Edna Teahan, Darrin Rogers and wife Candi, Angie McDonald and husband Joe Collins, Nancy Hickerson and husband Mike, Donna Ward, and Tammy Lehan and husband Richard, grandchildren Kristen Sneade and husband Jason, Stacie Bennett and husband Shawn, Zachary McDonald and fiancé Megan Tippett, Amanda Bowen, Richard Bowen and wife Danielle, and Courtney Wood. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Drake, Summer, Joey, Demaryius, Annistyn, Callen, and baby girl McDonald due in March, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Preston Thomas and William Clifford Rogers, brothers Bobby, Booty, Tommy, Vincent, and Jimmy Rogers, great-grandson Landon Caroll Sneade, and by his first wife Sharon Carol Rogers.
