UPDATE: Prince George’s County Officer Involved in Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision in Langley Park

UPDATE 11/25/2020: The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal pedestrian collision in Langley Park. The name of the deceased pedestrian will be released once his family has been notified. The striking driver was an on-duty PGPD officer driving an unmarked police vehicle. The officer was not responding to a call for service or traveling priority.

On November 23, 2020, at approximately 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to a report of a pedestrian collision in the area of University Boulevard and 15th Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was struck as he tried to cross University Boulevard. The officer was traveling westbound on University Boulevard at the time of the collision. The officer was not hurt.

11/24/2020: On Monday, November 23, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., an on-duty Prince George’s County Police Officer was involved in a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Police are currently investigating the collision, and have released the following information.

“Preliminary investigations revealed at approximately 9:00 p.m., an on duty officer was traveling Westbound on University Boulevard, when for reasons that remain under investigation, the Officer struck an adult male who was in the roadway. The man was was pronounced dead on the scene.”

No other known injuries were reported.
