AUDIO: State Fire Marshal Investigating House Fire in White Plains, Arson Charges Pending

On Monday, December 14, 2020, at approximately 8:55 a.m., firefighters responded to 11338 Tolkien Court in White Plains, for the residential fire alarm.

The 911 caller was a Public Works employee who advised he could hear an active fire alarm sounding from a nearby residence and gave the 11338 address.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a two story residence with smoke showing from the front door, firefighters requested a structure fire assignment to be dispatched.

Firefighters found an active fire on the first floor inside a bedroom, along with multiple gasoline canisters within the residence with a strong smell of gas throughout the first floor.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to investigate the fire, police were requested to detain the homeowner on the scene for further investigation.

The 74-year-old female suspect was not taken into custody, however, charges have been filed for Arson First Degree, Malicious Burning First Degree, and Malicious Destruction of Property Under $1,000.

No injuries were reported., and updates will be provided when they become available.
