Anne Arundel County Detectives Arrest Glen Burnie Man After Stealing 20 Firearms During October Burglary

On Tuesday, October 13, 2020, officers responded for a burglary of a detached garage in the 7900 block of Belhaven Avenue in Pasadena. The investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the garage and was able to open the locked gun safe and removed/stole twenty firearms.  The safe wasn’t pried, only the electronic keypad was lying on the floor. Eastern Detectives pursued any and all leads in developing a suspect in this case.

On Friday, December 11, 2020, after investigating, the Eastern District Detectives developed a suspect and a search warrant was written and executed on December 11, 2020 in the 700 block of North Channel Drive in Glen Burnie.  Evidence of the above burglary was discovered and seized.  The suspect, who was already in custody, will be charged with Burglary & other related offenses.


The suspect, Daniel Louis Hopwood, 20, of Glen Burnie has been charged with the below, following the arrest on Friday, December 11, 2020.

  • POSS OF FIREARM MINOR
  • HANDGUN ON PERSON

On Monday, December 14, 2020, Hopwood was charged with the following.

  • BURGLARY/2ND DEGREE/GENERAL
  • BURGLARY-4TH DEGREE-STORE
  • BURGLARY-4TH DEGREE THEFT
  • THEFT: $1,500 TO UNDER $25,000
  • BURGLARY/2ND DEGREE/FIREARM

Hopwood was arrested on November 7, 2020, for CDS Possession: Not Marijuana and CDS Possession with intent to distribute. He was released within 48 hours with his felony charges nolle prossed. He is now currently being held on a no bond status as of Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
