On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Western Parkway and Shasho Place in Waldorf, for the reported motor vehicle collision with injuries.
Dispatchers advised the 911 caller reported a single vehicle was involved in the collision, with the 45-year-old operator and 10-year-old male occupant reporting injuries. Both were conscious and alert.
Firefighters arrived on the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the intersection of Western Parkway and the Waldorf Market Place to find two vehicles in the intersection involved in a t-bone style collision with one victim trapped.
Dispatchers then advised that this was a separate motor vehicle collision from the one originally dispatched. A serious motor vehicle collision assignment was then dispatched for the incident.
Firefighters requested a helicopter for the trapped victim. Crews extricated the victim in under 10 minutes. The adult male was transported to an area trauma center by a Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7.
Emergency medical personnel provided care to the occupants of the vehicle located at Shasho Place. It is unknown if they were transported or signed care refusal forms.
Officers responded to both motor vehicle collisions and reported a SUV struck the vehicle in the area of Western Parkway and Shasho Place before fleeing the scene and causing the second motor vehicle collision at Western Parkway and Waldorf Market Place.
Police are currently investigating both incidents.
Updates will be provided when they become available.
