Police in Charles County Investigating Shooting of 13-Year-Old Female in Waldorf

UPDATE: On January 30, 2021, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 500 block of University Drive in Waldorf for the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located a 13-year-old female inside the house suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was flown to a hospital and treated for injuries that were later determined to be not life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) fired several rounds at the house. One of the rounds went through the siding and struck the victim who was in a bedroom. No one else in the house was injured. It is not known at this point if the suspect(s) was in a car or on foot. Detectives are working leads and say it does not appear the shooting was random.

1/30/2021: On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at approximately 1:40 a.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the 500 block of University Drive in Waldorf, for the reported gunshot victim.

Police arrived on the scene to find one residence was struck multiple times, with a 13-year-old female inside of the residence with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The patient was transported by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 to an area trauma center with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. First Responders reported she was conscious, alert and breathing.

No suspect information is available at this time, and is it unknown if the suspect(s) were in a vehicle or on foot.

Police are investigating the incident.
