On April 4, 2021, at approximately 3:45 a.m., firefighters from Leonardtown, Seventh District, Hollywood, Mechanicsville, and Bay District responded to 40451 Breton View Drive in Leonardtown, for the reported structure fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find smoke showing from a 3-story middle of the row townhouse.
Upon further investigation, firefighters found a small fire in the basement in an unfinished utility closest.
The occupants of the residence reported their active smoke alarms alerted them to the fire. Firefighters urge all homeowners to have smoke detectors and an exit strategy in case of a fire.
Luckily, no injuries were reported.
Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Departments scaled the incident back to units from just Leonardtown and operated on the scene for approximately 30 minutes.
