Nathan Emanuel Watkins “Neddy”

April 9, 2021

Nathan Emanuel Watkins, also known as “Neddy”, was one of six children of the late Cecilia and Amos Watkins of Tuschen, Guyana. He was born on June 9, 1941 and transitioned to eternal rest on April 3, 2021. Nathan will be remembered for his impeccable style, love of music, and his love for the Lord.

In 1969, he married Yvonne Cynthia Watkins and from that union four children were born; Wayne, Denise, Roxanne, and Dawn.

Nathan later migrated to the United States and was employed in the wood-working industry and then in physical security services until his retirement.

At an early age, Nathan gave his life to the Lord and attended church regularly with his mother. He continued to serve the Lord throughout his life, and in his later years he worshipped at the Evangel Assembly of God in Temple Hills, MD where he particularly enjoyed fellowship with his brothers during Saturday Men’s Prayer Breakfast.

In 1997, Nathan married Lolita Bazilio and they enjoyed 23 years of joyful and blissful years together. This union added Lolita’s four children to Nathan’s life; Collette, Doret, Rockcliff, and Ivelaw.

He was cherished by his children and adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nathan was quiet, yet full of spunk, and he was someone that everyone enjoyed being around and he could always be counted on for a good story. He was passionate about his family, church and taking time out to call his sister regularly. He will always be remembered for his fashion sense and we could always count on Nathan to be the best dressed.

Nathan was known for his collection of music, mainly hymns and “”oldies but goodies”” music. He loved to sing and woke up singing a different worship song daily. During his leisure time he enjoyed going to the gym, tending to his yard, singing and dancing. He was also passionate about travel, mainly going to Ocean City and on sunny cruises.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lynette, Ivan, Joe and Laurene. He will remain treasured and in the hearts of his loving wife Lolita Watkins; his children, Wayne Alfred Watkins (Trudy), Denise Michelle Watkins, Roxanne Amanda Innis, Dawn Noreta Welcome-Watkins, Collette Sertima (Tony), Doret Sinclair (Roxton), Rockliff Christie (Sade), and Ivelaw Christie (Lovanda); grand-children Dominique Jackson (Brielle), Shaquan Welcome, Jamal Glasgow, Isaiah Welcome, Rashad Welcome, Diamond Carr, Jasmine, Shanice, Shereen, Martisha and others; great grandchildren Keagan, Kyle and two others; his siblings Catherine-Tiny Reid (Edward) and Raymond Watkins (Joan). His memory will forever be cherished by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other family and friends.

Family and friends will unite for visitation on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. A second viewing will be held on Monday, April 12 from 12 noon until time of service 1:00pm at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 2294 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
