UPDATE: Driver That Killed 19-Year-Old Anthony Lawrence Ford in Hit and Run Collision Pleads Guilty to One Misdemeanor

UPDATE 9/19/2022: On Friday, September 16, 2022 Conrad Leland Young Jr., of Mechanicsville, plead guilty to one misdemeanor and one traffic violation in the hit-and-run killing of Anthony Lawrence Ford.

Ford, 19, was killed on Three Notch Road in the area of Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville, after Young struck him with his truck and fled the scene.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for October 28, 2022 at 9:00 in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court.

UPDATE 4/19/2021 @ 10:00 a.m.: The suspected vehicle was located and the suspected driver in the fatal hit-and-run collision has been identified as Conrad Leland Young Jr., 32 of Mechanicsville.

Charges are currently under review with the Office of the State’s Attorney Office for St. Mary’s County.

The victim has been identified as Anthony Lawrence Ford, 19, of no fixed address.

On June 30, 2013, Conrad Leland Young, Jr., was arrested for DWI in St. Mary’s County by Deputy Lance.

On December 13, 2014, Conrad Leland Young Jr., was arrested for DWI in St. Mary’s County by Deputy K. Molitor.

On May 25 13, 2015, Conrad Leland Young Jr., was arrested for DWI in St. Mary’s County by Trooper Varesko.

UPDATE: On Friday, April 16, 2021 at 6:13 a.m., deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 27000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for the report of a person lying on the ground off the southbound shoulder of the roadway.

Upon arrival, deputies located an unidentified male lying in the grass who was pronounced deceased. Investigation determined there was evidence to suggest the unidentified male was struck by a vehicle.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

At this time, it is believed that a red Toyota Tacoma TRD pickup truck was traveling southbound on Three Notch Road and struck the pedestrian who appears to have been on the southbound shoulder.

The striking vehicle failed to remain on the scene of the collision and has not been located by law enforcement at this time. The striking vehicle should have front-end damage to the right fog light, center grill area and right wheel well. At this time, there is no further information about the vehicle or its driver.


The St. Marys’ County Sheriff’s Office continues to work to identity the deceased pedestrian and the striking vehicle and its operator. It is not known currently if speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.

4/16/2021: On Friday, April 16, 2021, at 6:13 a.m., police responded to the area of Three Notch Road and Baptist Church Road in Mechanicsville, for a check the welfare of a subject laying in the median.

Officers arrived on the scene and found an unknown aged male laying in the grass of the Southbound side of Three Notch Road.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased upon their arrival.

A spokesperson for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office stated they have not identified the victim, and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the death.
