VIDEO: Police Continue to Investigate Drive-by Shooting That Critically Injured 12-Year-Old Girl

UPDATE 10/14/2021: Detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the car and the suspect(s) seen in a surveillance video shooting into a business, critically injuring a 12-year-old child Friday evening in Capitol Heights. She remains hospitalized in critical condition. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered in this case.

The incident occurred around 6:35 pm in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike on October 8, 2021.

Preliminarily, the investigation revealed the victim was waiting for food inside of a restaurant when she was shot. Police do not believe the young girl was the intended target. In the surveillance video, the shooter is seen standing out of the car’s sunroof, shooting toward a row of businesses.

The car is a dark-colored, four-door sedan with tinted windows and chrome window trim and door handles. The car is possibly an Infiniti. It was last seen heading toward Brooks Drive following the shooting.

10/10/2021: The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Division VIII, Westphalia Investigative Section is searching for a suspect(s) who shot and critically injured a 12-year-old child last night in Capitol Heights.

The incident occurred around 6:35 p.m., on Friday, October 9, 2021, in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights

Police do not believe the young girl was the intended target.

Preliminarily, the investigation reveals the girl was waiting for food inside of an establishment when, for reasons that remain under investigation, gun shots were fired from outside of the establishment.

The young girl was struck in the lower body. She was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
