Charles Anthony Greenwell, 53, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away on November 5, 2021 in Mechanicsville, MD. He was born on December 7, 1968 in Leonardtown, MD, and was the loving son of Margaret Rose Gray Greenwell and William Clarence Greenwell of Leonardtown, MD. Charles was the loving husband of Carrie Ann Nelson Greenwell, whom he married in the Mechanicsville Vol. Fire Dept on September 14, 2002. Charles is survived by his children Austin Greenwell, Abby Greenwell, and Allison Greenwell, all of Mechanicsville, MD, along with his siblings, Bud Greenwell of Leonardtown, MD, Freddie Greenwell (Ruth) of Mechanicsville, MD, Kim Greenwell (PJ Joy) of Leonardtown, MD, and brother in law Noodles Nelson (Crystal) of Leonardtown, MD. Charles was predeceased by his grandparents Foley and Jenny Gray and Fred and Kate Greenwell.
He was a lifelong St. Mary’s County, MD resident. Charles worked for McKay’s Grocery Store as a Receiving Manager for 17 years. Charles was part of fantasy football federations (FFF) renamed in his honor to “Chop Rampage”. He loved watching the St. Louis Rams and Chicago White Sox.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dennis Gillikin officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Freddie Greenwell, Noodles Nelson, Eddie Wathen, George Wathen, Blake Gray, and Jason Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews Brandy Lopshire, Michael Joy, Grace Nelson, Alan Nelson, LJ Nelson, Patrick Nelson, Jordan Nelson, Jenny Davis, and Sara Davis.
