Lexington Park Man Arrested After Armed Home Invasion and Assault in Leonardtown

Derrick Clifton Marshall, age 43 of Lexington Park

On Saturday, December 11, 2021, Dep. Fleenor responded to the 25500 block of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown, for the reported assault. Contact was made with the victim who advised Derrick Clifton Marshall, age 43 of Lexington Park, entered the residence without permission and confronted the victim.

During the confrontation Marshall retrieved a knife and held the knife to the victim’s neck; the victim’s hand sustained a laceration during the incident.

Marshall was arrested and charged with the following.

  • HOME INVASION
  • BURGLARY – THIRD DEGREE
  • ASSAULT 1ST DEGREE
  • ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE
  • RETALIATE-WITNESS-FELONY OFF
  • VIOLATE PROT ORDER

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Dep. Fleenor responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, for the reported protective order violation.

Investigation determined Derrick Clifton Marshall, age 43 of Lexington Park, contacted the victim by phone while incarcerated at the detention center, in violation of an active court order. Marshall was charged with Violate Protective Order.

Marshall was sentenced to 8 years in prison for Assault-Second Degree in 2017, his sentence was reduced to 8 months.
