The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a 17-year-old male from Washington, DC, in connection with the recent murder of 71-year-old Abdul Rauf Khan of Springfield, VA. The suspect is charged as an adult.

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 3700 block of Dunlap Street for a welfare check. The victim was located outside in a roadway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died several hours later at a hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed Khan was operating as a rideshare driver at the time of the murder. His car was also stolen.

On March 1, 2022, officers conducted a traffic stop on the victim’s stolen vehicle at the intersection of Garrett A. Morgan Boulevard and Central Avenue in Landover.
