UPDATE: Officials Release Name of Victim in Fatal House Fire in Lusby

UPDATE 4/6/2022: The victim of Sunday’s afternoon house fire in Lusby has been positively identified as 58-year-old Paul Alan Pinkowski.

At around 3:00 p.m., firefighters from Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to the 12100 block of DoubleTree Lane for a reported house fire with possible entrapment.

911 dispatchers reported the subject was able to be pulled from the residence before the arrival of firefighters, with callers reporting the victim had severe burns; however, Pinkowski was later pronounced deceased on the scene.
The Office of the State Fire Marshal and Calvert County Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation into the origin and cause of this fire.

Due to three earlier investigations, including a double fatal fire in Waldorf, Deputy State Fire Marshals were assisted by fire investigators from Annapolis and Prince Georges County Fire Departments.

UPDATE 4/2/2022: A joint investigation continues between the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office into the cause of a dwelling fire that claimed one life.

Just after 3:00 p.m., firefighters from Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to the 12100 block of Double Tree Lane in Lusby for a reported house fire with possible entrapment.

911 dispatchers reported the subject was able to be pulled from the residence before the arrival of firefighters, with callers reporting the victim had severe burns, and Maryland State Police Aviation Command was requested.

A short time after their arrival, paramedics pronounced the victim deceased on the scene, and the medevac was canceled.

Due to three earlier investigations, including a double fatal fire in Waldorf, Deputy State Fire Marshals were assisted by fire investigators from Annapolis and Prince Georges County Fire Departments.

The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause of death and where the victim will be positively identified.

4/1/2022: On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 3:25 p.m., firefighters from Calvert and St. Mary’s County responded to the 12100 block of Double Tree Lane in Lusby, for the reported house on fire with subjects trapped.

911 dispatchers reported the subject was able to be pulled from the residence prior to the arrival of firefighters, with callers reporting the victim had serious burns.

Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 was pre-launched to respond.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a two-story residence with fire showing from the rear deck.

A short time after arrival, units cancelled the helicopter and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal are responding to the scene to investigate the incident. American Red Cross and SMECO has been requested.
