Indian Head Man Arrested Twice in Under 30 Days for Burglary, Police Recover Loaded Handgun and Burglary Tools

Steven John Ivie, age 38 of Indian Head

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at approximately 1:43 a.m., a La Plata police officer was conducting a premise check of a self-storage business on North La Plata Court when he interrupted a burglary of a storage unit.

The individual was quickly detained and found to be in possession of a loaded .380 handgun, burglar’s tools, and cocaine.

The individual, Steven John Ivie, age 38 of Indian Head, and has been charged with the following below. Ivie was released less than 24 hours later on his own personal recognizance.

  • BURGLARY-4TH DEGREE THEFT
  • HANDGUN ON PERSON
  • LOADED HANDGUN ON PERSON
  • CDS: POSSESS-NOT CANNABIS

Ivie was arrested just one month ago on October 19, 2022, for burglary. Ivie currently has charges of BURGLARY-4TH DEGREE/TOOLS, ATT-BURGLARY/2ND DEGREE/GENERAL, and HANDGUN IN VEHICLE. He was released less than 24 hours later on a $3,500.00 unsecured personal bond.

La Plata Self-Storage sent an email to customers stating “There has been evidence recovered suggesting he has been in most, if not all, storage units at the facility.”
