Clara Ann “Dolly” Carroll, 96, of Dameron, MD passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 30, 2023. She was born on January 6, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Eutimio (Bill) Donatelli and Esther (Pasque) Zappa Donatelli.
Dolly moved to Southern Maryland when she married Richard William (Dick) Carroll in October of 1950. Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage before Dick’s passing in 2021, and raised five children – Brenda, Ricky, Cindy, Steffie, and Deanna. Family was her greatest passion – she and Dick would frequently pack up the kids and head north to maintain close ties between the Pittsburgh and Maryland families. Dolly had an endless enthusiasm for baking and sharing a good meal, she saw to it that family and friends never left the house hungry.
Dolly is also survived by her children: Richard “Rick” Carroll (Becky) of St. Inigoes, MD, Cynthia “Cindy” Bradburn (Charlie) of Dameron, MD, Stephanie “Steffie” Langley (Phil) of Dameron, MD, and Deanna Dunbar (Jeff) of Dameron, MD; her son-in-law, Jimmy Hanson of Valley Lee, MD; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Dolly is also preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Carroll Hanson; her sisters – Lillian Sutej and Leona Doefler; and her brothers – Anthony Donatelli and Vince Donatelli.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 16566 Three Notch Road, Ridge, MD 20680, with viewing will from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial co-celebrated by Monsignor Karl Chimiak and Reverend Peter Giovanoni. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
