Gary Roger Williams, Sr., 78,

April 13, 2023

On March 28, 2023, Gary Roger Williams, Sr., 78, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away surrounded by loved ones in his daughter’s home in Hollywood, Maryland.

Gary was born on July 7, 1944, in Washington, DC to the late Walter Reed and Mary Elizabeth Williams. He was the youngest of five children.

After graduating from high school, he went to work for Washington Gas Light Company as a Special Serviceman.  Gary retired after 33 years of dedicated service and opened his own company Williams Meter and Construction Services.

Gary’s hobbies included playing softball and golf.  He was also an avid collector of coins, and baseball cards. He loved investing and following the market.  There was no such thing as a stranger; Gary made friends with everyone around him.  He was fondly nicknamed the “Mayor of 9th Avenue” and spent 5 to 8 hours a day on the beach when he retired and moved South.  His biggest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who he talked with via FaceTime on a daily basis.  Of all the titles he held throughout his lifetime, Pop Pop was the one he treasured most.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margie Steele, and Betty Harris, brother Walter Williams Jr. (Sonny), and his son-in-law Brian St. Arnold.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia Williams.  They met in 1961 and married on April 9, 1964.  They went on to have two children: son Gary Williams, Jr. (Sheri) of Riverview, FL, and their children and grandchildren Gary Williams III father of Kaylee; Heather Williams mother of Jaydin, Kyree, Dominick, and Kinsley; Nicole Gannon mother of Cameron; William Gannon (Stephanie) and Corrine Gannon; daughter Victoria St. Arnold and her children and grandchildren; Brian St. Arnold father of Julian; Nicole Ross (Alan) parents of Cameron, Hailey, and Reagan; Anthony St. Arnold (Lindsay) parents of Lilah, Abagail, Summer, and Jacob; Sarah Mains (Jimmy Costanzo) parents of Kylie, Robbie, Cayden, Blake, Leighton, Aspen, Reesie and Cohen; Andrew St. Arnold (Kayla McAllister) parents of Zoey and Emma; Thomas St. Arnold (Dayona) parents of Dominic and Christian; he is also survived by his sister Carolyn Burns (Bill) and many nieces, nephews and other family members all of whom he loved deeply.

We will be celebrating Gary’s life with a memorial service on April 8, 2023, at New Life Church (Calvert) in Prince Frederick, Maryland.  Visitors will be received at 10 am with service at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Children’s National Hospital.
