Leonardtown Man Arrested After Attempting to Stab His Sister During Dispute

On Monday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 6:00 a.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to the 22000 block of Dorsey Street in Leonardtown, for the reported possible stabbing.

Police responded to the area for a domestic assault in progress. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, identified as Anthony Eckloff, who advised he and his sister (the victim) were involved in a physical altercation stemming from a verbal altercation.

Contact was made with the female victim who advised during the altercation, Eckloff obtained a steak knife and attempted to strike her with it multiple times.

A witness confirmed seeing Eckloff swing the weapon at the victim. Officers observed multiple injuries to the victim, she was later transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eckloff suffered injuries after falling to the ground due to the witness attempting to intervene and stop the assault. Officers recovered one suboxone pouch from the suspects wallet.

Eckloff was released from jail the same day on an unsecure personal bond of $5,000
