Thomas “Tom” Reid Rivenburgh, 60,

Thomas “Tom” Reid Rivenburgh, 60 of Jacksonville, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Sept 26, 2023 in Jacksonville, NC.  Born on May 22, 1963, in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Reid Paul Rivenburgh and Joyce “Cornell” Perri (Step-father late Santo “Bud” Perri).  Tom was the loving husband of Maria Jose Rivenburgh whom he married on June 18, 1988 in Memphis, TN.

Tom is survived by his two children; son Erik Thomas Rivenburgh (Amber Farrell) and daughter Maria Daniela Rivenburgh both of Lexington Park, MD.  As well as Tom’s brother Scott Rivenburgh of Mayfield, PA and his children Arianna, Cassidy and the late Shane Rivenburgh; and Tom’s sister, Deborah (Jim) Perri of Carbondale, PA and their children Samantha Rogowski, Camryn Perri and Kyle Perri along with a loving extended family including his Uncle Allen Cornell and Aunt Pat Cornell along with other family members and close family friends.

Tom, a native of Carbondale, PA, graduated from Carbondale High School in 1981.   He enlisted in the Navy as an Avionics Technician (AT) in Jan 1987 and had a Navy year career filled with challenging jobs and wonderful people.    He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 20 years of honorable service in Jan 2003.  Upon retirement from the Navy, Tom worked with a Patuxent River, MD contractor.  Tom completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering and then went on to complete his Master Degree.  Tom went on to work for Civil Service at Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division at NAS Patuxent River MD as an Electronic Engineer.  He retired in July 2022 and then he and Maria moved to Jacksonville, N.C. where he went to work for ORSA Technologies.

Tom was a dedicated father and husband. He loved spending time with his children, family and friends.  Tom loved to travel with his wife of 35 years to see new sites and meet people.  If he wasn’t traveling, it was not unusual to see his home filled with people on any given weekend for an impromptu BBQ and fire pit gathering. The door was always open at Tom’s house.  Tom was a devoted husband, father and friend.  He will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD, where a Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
