Liz grew up in Ridge, MD, and graduated from St. Michael’s High School. On 11 June 1960, she married the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) Benedict Abell in a beautiful mass celebrated at St. Michael’s Church in Ridge. The couple spent 62 wonderful years together, which resulted in three lovely children, Robert Tracy Abell (Laurel) of Bel Air, MD, Kenneth (Kee) Warren Abell (Juanita) of Mechanicsville, MD and Mary Lynn Abell Lowe (David) of Ridge, MD, along with 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Liz worked at St. Michael’s School for many of her early years as a 2nd Grade teacher and substitute teacher. She was adored, respected and loved by her students and enjoyed seeing them later in life talking about the wonderful memories. She would be stopped by students asking her if she remembered teaching them at St. Michael’s, exclaiming, “She was my 2nd grade teacher. She was awesome”. In addition, Liz was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Church in Ridge, MD and a longtime member of the St. Michael’s Ladies of Charity.
Liz was also a homemaker and loved spending time with family and friends, going to dances, playing cards and watching baseball games. Most important in her life was her loving husband, her family and her many pets, especially her two Shih Tzu’s, Smoke and Angel.
Liz was a wholly devoted wife and an amazing mother. Her loyalty to her family was unmatched. She was faithful to her religion and lived her life with honesty and integrity. She radiated both strength and warmth, and was a source of refuge for both her family and her friends. She will be missed immensely.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband Bobby in 2022, and her parents, Henry Warren and Mary Catherine Delozier. She is survived by her children, Tracy, Kee and Lynn, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with sisters-in-law, Peggy, Mary Vanna, Joanne, and Patty and brothers-in-law, Joe and Eddie.
Pall bearers will be Tracy Abell, Kee Abell, David Lowe, Josh Abell, Matthew Abell, Scott Abell, Jimmy Hamilton and Timmy Tennyson.
Family will receive friends for Liz’s Life Celebration on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with prayers recited at 7:00 p.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 16566 Three Notch Road, Ridge, MD 20680. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Giovanoni on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Michael’s Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
