Firefighters Quickly Contain Brush Fire While Saving House and Shed From Extensive Damage

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, at approximately 3:25 p.m., firefighters from Bay District VFD responded to the 23000 block of White Elm Court in California, for the reported brush fire.

911 callers reported a brush fire in the backyard of a residence.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a large brush fire to the rear of multiple residences which was actively spreading and threatening one house and a shed.

The incident was upgraded to a residential structure fire, which brought firefighters from Bay District, Hollywood, Solomons, NAS Patuxent River, Leonardtown, Ridge and Second District to the scene.

The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes, with crews operating on the scene for over two hours.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was deemed accidental and caused by a firepit. Fortunately, the damage was contained to the residence’s attached shed and A/C unit, and a 10×10 shed, before spreading and causing further extensive damage.
