Madeline Grace Goldsborough, 19, of Lexington Park, is facing felony and misdemeanor assault charges following an incident on March 29, 2026, according to court documents.

Goldsborough is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault stemming from an alleged altercation at an apartment on Columbus Drive in Lexington Park.

According to charging documents filed by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling the area of Great Mills Road and Pacific Drive when they were flagged down by Goldsborough. She told deputies she had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation with her boyfriend at their shared residence and claimed “he started hitting her first and she retaliated in self-defense.”

Court records state that deputies observed no visible injuries on Goldsborough, which “contradicted her statements.”

As the investigation continued, deputies reported that Goldsborough “provided changing statements and could not answer simple questions about details she provided.” She later told deputies that the male victim would not allow her to leave the residence and that “she stabbed him with a screwdriver.”

Deputies recovered a screwdriver from Goldsborough, according to the report.

Investigators then made contact with the adult male victim at the residence on Columbus Drive in Lexington Park. The victim told deputies he had been in an argument with Goldsborough and said “the defendant smacked him on the face first” and “punched him in the nose, which caused injury and his nose bled.”

The victim further stated that during the altercation, while he was telling Goldsborough not to leave, “the defendant stabbed him in his left shoulder with something from the countertop.” Deputies observed a “fresh stab wound to his left shoulder” and noted he also had dried blood on his nose.

Goldsborough was arrested at the scene. All events occurred in St. Mary’s County, according to the report.

Following her arrest on March 30, 2026, Goldsborough was ordered held without bond. During her initial appearance, she waived her right to an attorney for that hearing, and a judicial officer determined there was a reasonable likelihood she posed a danger to the alleged victim or others.

The court also ordered that Goldsborough have no contact with the adult male victim and not return to the residence on Columbus Drive in Lexington Park. Additional conditions include not possessing any weapons and not threatening or abusing the victim.

A bail review hearing was scheduled for March 31, 2026, at the St. Mary’s District Court.
