One Injured After Second Crash in St. Mary’s County Involving Wrong-Way Driver

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 9:36 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Three Notch Road and Kimberly Lane in Mechanicsville, for the reported traffic complaint and motor vehicle collision.

Dispatchers were advised communications was receiving multiple 911 callers reporting a vehicle was travelling Northbound in the Southbound lanes. While still gathering information from callers, they advised the complaint vehicle had struck another vehicle.

Firefighters and emergency medical services were dispatched at 9:38 p.m., to Three Notch Road and Loveville Road in Mechanicsville, for the reported motor vehicle collision with unknown injuries.

While responding to the scene, callers reported one occupant was trapped. The incident was upgraded to a serious motor vehicle collision with entrapment.

Firefighters from Mechanicsville and Hollywood VFD responded and confirmed a two vehicle collision, with one occupant trapped.

Crews removed the single victim in under 15 minutes.

The at fault driver was transported to an area hospital with injuries. The operator of the second vehicle denied having injuries and signed care refusal forms on the scene.
