April 8, 2026

A three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in southern Anne Arundel County left one woman dead and two others injured, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

On April 7, 2026, at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers from the Southern District responded to a serious collision on Solomons Island Road (MD Route 2), just south of Polling House Road. Due to the severity of the crash, the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team was requested to the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that a 2021 Dodge Challenger traveling northbound struck a 2010 Nissan Xterra from the rear. The impact pushed the Nissan into the southbound lane, where it was then struck head-on by a 2019 Toyota 4Runner.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Regina Ann Hicks, 54, of Prince Frederick, Maryland, was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Dodge Challenger, a 19-year-old male from West River, Maryland, and the driver of the Toyota 4Runner, a 30-year-old female from Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, were both transported for treatment of minor injuries.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
