UPDATE 4/10/2026 @ 4:35 p.m.: St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are investigating a crash that killed a man in California, Maryland.
At 2:26 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, Deputies responded to the southbound lane of the 22700 block of Three Notch Road for a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
A male victim, identified as Jesse San Nicolas, 40, of California, MD, was declared deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Three Notch Road when he was struck by more than one vehicle. A 2016 528i BMW sedan being operated by a 21-year-old male resident of Waldorf, was involved in the collision and remained on the scene. A second striking vehicle failed to stop after the collision and fled from the scene. The second vehicle is believed to be a dark blue or black 2011-2020 Dodge Caravan with front bumper damage from the collision.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction team has assumed the investigation and is requesting eyewitness assistance from the public.

4/10/2026: On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 2:28 a.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of Three Notch Road and Town Creek Drive in California, for the serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
Multiple 911 callers reported a subject was struck by a vehicle with the victim laying in the roadway.
Crews arrived on the scene within minutes to find the bicycle and an unknown aged male laying in the Southbound lanes of Three Notch Road with the victim not breathing.
Firefighters began performing CPR until EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded and are investigating the motor vehicle collision.
Both striking vehicles remained on the scene, The first striking vehicle remained at the scene. Police were told a second striking vehicle fled after striking the victim, no other injuries were reported.
The second vehicle that had remained on the scene was a witness who called 911.
All Southbound lanes of Three Notch Road remain closed with extended delays expected for the next 2 hours. The Northbound turn lane remains closed as well.
Avoid the area and use Town Creek Drive and FDR Boulevard as alternative routes of travel.
