On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at approximately 11:11 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the 300 block of Jennie Run Drive in La Plata, for the reported shooting.
911 callers reported their 15-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the leg, with the bleeding being controlled.
Crews arrived on the scene to confirm the victim had a single gunshot wound to the upper left thigh, with the victim conscious alert and breathing. EMS consulted with the Children’s National Medical Center for transport.
The 15-year-old and a guardian were transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center.
Police are investigating the incident and updates will be provided when they become available.
