On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at approximately 12:57 p.m., firefighters from Calvert, Charles, St. Mary’s and Anne Arundel County were dispatched to the 1100 block of Clay Hammond Road, for the reported working house fire with unknown entrapment.
Multiple 911 callers reported a house was on fire with reports of one occupant unaccounted for.
Crews arrived on the scene to report heavy fire showing from an three bay attached garage with extensions into the 2 story single family residence with fire through the roof.
Firefighters deployed multiple attack lines and made entry into the home to perform searches, however, crews were forced to evacuate due to deteriorating conditions.
Once conditions were deemed safe, crews re-entered and extinguished the remaining bulk of the fire. Firefighters completed a primary search of all floors which proved to be negative. The occupant was later accounted for, and found to be not home when the fire started.
No known injuries were reported.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
