On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at approximately 7:25 p.m., firefighters and emergency medical services were dispatched to the 4500 block of Jeannette Place in La Plata, for the reported outside fire with a burn victim.
911 callers reported a man was burning trash and fell into the fire, with the victim being out of the fire, and no longer on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find the adult male suffering burns to the upper body and upper-extremities.
A helicopter was requested to land nearby.
Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 landed nearby and transported the victim to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The pile of trash was fully wet down and extinguished by firefighters before returning to service.
