Almost Eight Months.. That’s how long Liam’s family held onto hope… almost eight months of wondering, searching, and missing their boy.
Then, one small act of kindness changed everything.
A woman in another county noticed a new cat quietly appearing around her neighborhood. Instead of assuming he had been abandoned, she chose to help. She safely trapped him and brought him to the Charles County Animal Care Center—just in case.
And that “just in case” made all the difference. A routine scan revealed a microchip. A name. A family. The Graves family.
When they got the call, the pieces finally came together. The cat they had been searching for, the one they hadn’t given up on for nearly 8 months… had been found.
Missing from Huntingtown, Calvert County, to being found in Waldorf, Charles County. How Liam ended up so far from home remains a mystery. His adventures? Unknown. But what we do know is this—he is finally back where he belongs. This is the power of a microchip. This is the impact of someone choosing to care.
Please, if your pet isn’t microchipped, get it done. It’s a small step that can bring them home when the unthinkable happens.
If you come across a stray animal, consider that they may be lost rather than abandoned, and help them get to a place where they can be safely checked for a microchip. That simple action could be the key to reuniting them with a family who is still searching.
Welcome home, Liam. 🏡🐾
A huge shoutout to the team at the Charles County Animal Care Center for their excellent work—taking the time to scan, connect the dots, and help reunite Liam with his family. Moments like this don’t happen without dedicated people who truly care! We are so happy this sweet boy is reunited with his family!
