Jordan Charles Danford, 26, of California, is facing multiple felony and firearm-related charges following an early morning incident in Saint Inigoes, according to court documents.

Danford is charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony or violent crime, possession of a firearm without a serial number, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and use of an assault weapon or high-capacity magazine.

According to charging documents, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded on April 14, 2026, at approximately 1:14 a.m. to a report of an assault on Chisleytown Road.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Danford, who was standing next to a Hyundai Sonata. Emergency dispatch advised officers that Danford may have been in possession of a firearm. Deputies gave verbal commands for him to step away from the vehicle, and he was detained without incident.

While speaking with deputies, Danford made several statements about the situation and the firearm. According to court documents, he told deputies that he “did have [a] fully loaded Glock 19 with no bullet in the chamber and placed it under his vehicle.”

Danford also told deputies that he “retrieved the firearm from his room and left the residence with his girlfriend/witness… to defuse the situation.”

He further stated that he had been involved in an argument with an adult male victim but claimed that “at no point did he brandish his firearm at the victim.”

Deputies recovered the firearm from underneath the vehicle. The weapon was described as a brown/tan Glock 19, and officers observed that it “did not have a serial number anywhere on the firearm.”

According to court records, the adult male victim provided a different account of the incident. The victim told deputies that he had been arguing with Danford and did not want a female witness at the residence. The victim stated that during the argument, Danford “grabbed his Glock 19 and pointed it at the victim” and said he was going to shoot him.

A witness inside the home reported hearing the argument from another room and told deputies she “could hear the sound of [a] firearm being cocked back and loaded, but did not observe the firearm.” Another witness stated she heard the argument but “did not know the defendant had [a] firearm in his possession” and did not see him retrieve it.

Following the investigation, Danford was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

During his initial appearance later that morning, Danford waived his right to an attorney for that hearing. Court records state he was advised of his rights, the charges against him, and the potential penalties.

District Court Commissioner Caitlin Smith ordered Danford released on personal recognizance, determining that release would reasonably ensure his appearance in court.

As part of his release, Danford was ordered not to contact or harass the adult male victim and to comply with all court appearances.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for May 12, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
