Jordan Michael Burnett, 40, of Saint Inigoes, has been charged with second-degree assault following an alleged incident on April 14, 2026, in Lexington Park.

According to court documents, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 10:05 p.m. to a reported assault at a gas station on Three Notch Road. A witness inside the business told deputies that a male subject was chasing a female and stated, “I don’t know, he’s out here somewhere. Probably either stalking or waiting for her to come out,” indicating the female was inside the store.

Deputies located an adult female victim inside the store sitting on the floor and crying. According to charging documents, the victim told deputies that Burnett was “calling me an N-word lover” and said he “pulled my hair, I don’t know.” Investigators reported observing debris in the victim’s hair and blood on her fingers, as well as a bleeding injury on her scalp.

The victim indicated that she had been pulled to the ground by her hair. When asked if she needed medical assistance, she initially refused, according to the report. Deputies also noted that the victim and Burnett were in a relationship and living together at the time.

A short time later, Burnett was located nearby on Three Notch Road. According to court documents, he told officers that he and the victim had been “bickering a little bit,” and admitted they had been drinking. He also stated, “I don’t know what she did to be honest with you, but I can tell you there’s no hands been put on anybody.”

Based on the victim’s statements and observed injuries, deputies determined there was probable cause for arrest. Burnett was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.

Court records show Burnett is charged with one count of second-degree assault, a misdemeanor offense.

During his initial court appearance on April 15, 2026, a judicial officer ordered that Burnett be held without bond, citing a concern for the safety of the victim and the community. He was also ordered to have no contact with the adult female victim.

A bail review hearing was held on April 16, 2026, where the hold without bond status remained in place. Burnett is scheduled for court date on May 19, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
