Diamond Markevia Shepard, 31, of Fort Washington, and Amonie Lashawn Anderson, 23, of Washington, D.C., have both been charged in connection with a theft and assault incident at two Waldorf businesses on April 24, 2026, according to court documents.

Shepard is facing charges of armed robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, theft scheme involving property valued between $100 and $1,500, and resisting arrest. Anderson is charged with theft scheme involving property valued between $100 and $1,500. Both cases were filed in the District Court for Charles County.

According to charging documents, deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to Super Beauty in the Waldorf Marketplace for a reported theft. Investigators allege Shepard selected hair extensions valued at $398.95 and attempted to leave the store without paying. When confronted by store employees near the exit, Shepard allegedly “attempted to push through the employees… with force” before spraying two adult female victims with pepper spray and fleeing the store. The victims were reported to have “visible redness to their eyes and faces.”

Court documents state Anderson was seen on store surveillance entering and exiting the business prior to the incident and was observed communicating with Shepard inside the store. Investigators say the two were acting together during the incident.

Authorities later located both individuals at Beauty Town on Crain Highway in Waldorf. According to court records, Shepard was again seen selecting merchandise and placing it into a basket. Officers reported that both Shepard and Anderson were inside the store and “were seen interacting and passing items between each other prior to law enforcement arrival,” and “appeared to be working together to complete the theft scheme.”

When officers attempted to detain Shepard, she allegedly dropped the basket and ran. An officer “had to grab onto her and take her to the ground as she attempted [to] pull away” after being told she was under arrest. A search of Shepard’s purse reportedly revealed a large can of pepper spray.

A vehicle associated with Anderson was observed parked near the business in a location described as unusual and believed to be positioned as a possible lookout or getaway vehicle. The vehicle left the area before officers could stop it.

Both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Charles County Detention Center.

According to court records, Shepard was initially ordered held without bond by District Court Commissioner Brandon Johnson on April 25, 2026. During a bail review hearing on April 27, 2026, Judge H. Richard Duden III granted her release on her own recognizance with conditions, including home detention at a residence on Edgewood Street in Washington, D.C., limited travel for legal, medical, or employment purposes, no contact with victims or witnesses, and orders to stay away from Super Beauty and Beauty Town. She is also prohibited from possessing drugs, alcohol, or weapons.

Court records show Anderson was released on her own recognizance on April 25, 2026, by District Court Commissioner Brandon Johnson, following her initial appearance.

A preliminary hearing for Shepard is scheduled for May 20, 2026, at the Charles County District Court. Anderson is scheduled for a trial-related hearing on June 9, 2026.

Both cases remain open.
