Michael Anthony Hyde, 33, of no fixed address
Michael Anthony Hyde, 33, of no fixed address, was arrested in St. Mary’s County on April 23, 2026, and is facing charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.
According to the statement of probable cause, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 12:51 a.m. to the Wawa on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville for a report of trespassing. Upon arrival, the responding deputy located Hyde, who matched the description provided by a store employee.
Court documents state that when deputies made contact, Hyde told them that “no issues had occurred and that he would leave if necessary.” After providing his name and date of birth, authorities learned he was wanted on an active warrant for failure to appear in District Court, which had been issued on April 10, 2026. The warrant was confirmed by a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office station clerk before Hyde was taken into custody.
While officers attempted to place Hyde in handcuffs, documents state he told them he had something in his pocket and removed a clear glass cylindrical device, asking if he could “throw it away.” Deputies observed burnt residue on the device consistent with narcotics use. When asked what he used the device for, Hyde told deputies “crack cocaine.” Authorities also reported locating an “L-shaped metal piece” in his pocket.
Hyde was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was served the bench warrant and formally charged.
Earlier court records show Hyde had been arrested in March 2026 in a separate case involving trespassing, theft under $100, and drug-related charges at a gas station on Three Notch Road. In that incident, authorities reported he took a coffee valued at about $2.96 without paying and was later found with suspected crack cocaine and related paraphernalia.
Hyde also faced a prior theft charge from February 2026 involving merchandise valued under $100 from a retail store in Mechanicsville, according to additional court documents.
