On Monday, May 4, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., firefighters from La Plata and surrounding departments responded to the 11000 block of James Joyce Court in White Plains, for a reported structure fire at the rear of a residence.
The first 911 call came from an alarm company who advised they were receiving multiple automated smoke and fire alarms. The homeowner and additional callers then reported the back of the house was on fire with smoke and fire showing.
Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene within minutes of dispatch to find a small fire on the exterior of the two-story residence which had started to spread inward.
Crews extinguished the fire, checked for extensions and conducted searches of the residence in under 15 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Incident command requested the Fire Marshal to contact him directly and placed the remaining Fire and EMS crews in service.
