Yolanda Kutinna Evans, 53, of Lexington Park, is facing felony and misdemeanor assault charges following an alleged domestic incident involving a knife, according to court documents filed in St. Mary’s County.
Evans has been charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault in connection with an incident reported on May 2, 2026, at an apartment on Oxford Court in Lexington Park.
According to court records, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of “an active domestic assault in progress involving a knife.” Deputies reported hearing “screaming commotion coming from inside” the residence before making contact.
Upon entering the apartment, a deputy attempted to separate Evans from an adult female victim. Authorities stated that Evans was observed holding “a large silver bladed kitchen knife in her left hand.” Deputies ordered her to drop the knife and get on the ground, which she did, according to the report.
The adult female victim told deputies she had just returned home from work when an argument began about her plans for the evening. She reported that Evans repeatedly “got in my face” during the confrontation. The victim stated she attempted to create distance and told Evans to “back the f##k up outta my face b##ch.”
According to the report, the victim said Evans grabbed her by the hair and pulled her backward as she walked away. Deputies observed marks on the victim’s head that were described as “discoloration and imprints consistent with a handprint.”
The victim further told deputies that Evans went into the kitchen, opened a drawer containing knives, and began opening a package of new knives. During that time, Evans allegedly stated, “I’m gonna stab her.” The victim said she feared for her life and believed she was going to be stabbed.
According to charging documents, Evans denied the allegations, with the report noting, “The Defendant denied all claims of assault against the victim.”
Evans was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
As part of the court’s conditions, Evans is prohibited from contacting or harassing the adult female victim and must not “abuse or threaten to abuse” the victim.
