Jason Joseph Baldwin II, 22, of Lusby, and Jayvion Marquise Buck, 20, of Lusby, are facing multiple handgun and drug-related charges after Calvert County deputies recovered a loaded FN .40 caliber handgun and an altered prescription bottle during an April 24, 2026 traffic stop in Prince Frederick, according to court records and charging documents.

The investigation began at approximately 1:17 p.m. on April 24, 2026, when a deputy with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office observed a gray 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer entering and later leaving the Silverwood Farms neighborhood near Fairground Road in Prince Frederick. In charging documents, deputies described the neighborhood as an area “associated with high crime and narcotics activity.”

According to the statement of probable cause filed by DFC R. Campbell, deputies observed the SUV allegedly fail to use a turn signal while turning onto Fairgrounds Road before later failing to yield while turning onto Main Street, causing another vehicle to brake suddenly hard enough that “the tires squealed.”

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but court records state the SUV continued driving past multiple entrances before eventually pulling into the Bank of America parking lot on Main Street in Prince Frederick.

Baldwin was identified as the driver of the vehicle. Buck was identified as a rear-seat passenger. A juvenile male passenger was seated in the front passenger seat.
According to court documents, deputies became suspicious because of what they described as unusual nervous behavior from the occupants. The probable cause statement says the juvenile passenger “appeared to be visibly nervous and kept his hands in the same spot on his lap, and would not move.” Deputies also noted the juvenile was carrying a black Michael Kors crossbody bag tucked between his body and the passenger-side door.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from a K-9 unit. Court records state Senior Deputy Idol conducted an open-air sniff of the SUV with K-9 Bengie, who allegedly alerted to the odor of controlled dangerous substances.

Deputies ordered all occupants out of the vehicle. According to charging documents, “While Cpl Plant was watching the juvenile and Buck, he observed the juvenile turn his head toward Buck, who was seated behind him, and whisper something to him that he was unable to determine what was said.”

Court documents state the juvenile passenger repeatedly identified himself as a minor and objected to searches. According to the probable cause statement, the juvenile told deputies “he was a minor and that he did not consent to any searches.” Deputies wrote that he later repeated “that he was a minor and that he did not consent to a search.” The juvenile also allegedly told deputies “the bag did not belong to him.”

Investigators searched the vehicle and reportedly located a handgun lock in the back seat pocket behind the front passenger seat. Deputies wrote that handgun locks are “commonly carried and used in conjunction with handguns to render them safe.”

According to the charging documents, deputies then frisked the crossbody bag and discovered what they believed was a handgun. Deputies recovered an FN .40 caliber handgun. Court records state the firearm contained a magazine loaded with six rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, although the chamber was empty. Deputies also allegedly recovered a Viridian laser/light attachment from the firearm because it partially covered the serial number.

Investigators additionally recovered a prescription bottle containing promethazine syrup with the prescription information allegedly scratched off. Charging documents state, “The bottle’s label was unlawfully altered.”

Court filings state all three occupants denied ownership of the firearm. The probable cause statement specifically says, “All occupants in the vehicle denied ownership of the handgun,” while also noting deputies believed the occupants may have attempted to pass illegal items between adults and juveniles inside the SUV.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office listed several items seized during the investigation, including multiple cell phones, a pocket knife, the crossbody bag, a handgun lock, the prescription bottle, ammunition, and the firearm itself.

Baldwin was charged with handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, and prescription/remove label. Court records show he was initially held without bond following his arrest on April 24, 2026. During a bail review hearing on April 27, 2026, Judge Michelle R. Saunders reduced Baldwin’s status to a $5,000 percentage bond, requiring $500 cash to secure release. The court ordered Baldwin to have no contact with co-defendants and obey all laws while released pending trial.
Buck was charged with handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, prescription/remove label, and possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years old. He was also initially held without bond before Judge Saunders granted a $5,000 unsecured personal bond on April 27, 2026. Buck was ordered to have no contact with co-defendants and obey all laws while awaiting trial.

Court documents also show the juvenile passenger was arrested and charged. According to the probable cause statement, “the juvenile and Buck were additionally charged with PS 5-133(d) Poss of Firearm/Minor.” Separate juvenile court proceedings were not included in the uploaded records.

Both Baldwin and Buck are scheduled to appear in court on June 5, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
