April Marie Quade, 29, of Mechanicsville, is facing multiple charges in St. Mary’s County following separate investigations involving alleged counterfeit currency and suspected cocaine possession, according to court records.

In the first case, Maryland State Police responded to the Wawa on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville at approximately 1:11 a.m. on February 20, 2026, for a report of possible counterfeit currency. According to charging documents, employees reported Quade attempted to purchase a milkshake priced at $5.51 using a $20 bill marked “FOR MOTION PICTURES ONLY.”

Troopers reviewed store surveillance footage and allegedly observed Quade handing the bill to the cashier while attempting to complete the purchase. Court documents state the wording on the bill “clearly indicates the currency as counterfeit.” Employees alerted a manager, who then contacted law enforcement.
Investigators later responded to Mechanicsville Road in an attempt to locate Quade. According to court records, troopers found her seated inside a vehicle parked in a driveway. Charging documents state Quade acknowledged she had been at the Wawa and admitted using the counterfeit bill, but allegedly told investigators she “didn’t realize it was counterfeit.”

Quade was arrested at approximately 2:28 a.m. and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center pending a bond review with a District Court commissioner. She was formally charged with possession or issuance of forged currency and theft under $100.

Court records show Quade later appeared before a judicial officer and was released on personal recognizance with conditions that she appear for future court proceedings and not engage in criminal activity while awaiting trial. A hearing in that case was scheduled for April 7, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court.
In a separate case filed April 23, 2026, Quade was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in Mechanicsville.

According to the statement of probable cause, Maryland State Police Master Trooper Davis observed a white Chevrolet Tahoe traveling on Loveville Road toward Three Notch Road without a front registration plate. Troopers also determined the registration displayed on the vehicle allegedly belonged to a Nissan and not the Chevrolet Tahoe involved in the stop.

Troopers identified Patrick Wayne Wood II as the driver and Quade as the front-seat passenger. TFC Timothy Eckrich responded to assist during the investigation and allegedly observed a black purse on the passenger-side floorboard where Quade was seated.

According to court documents, the driver allegedly informed troopers there was drug paraphernalia somewhere inside the vehicle. Investigators then conducted a probable cause search of the SUV and reported discovering a glass smoking device containing suspected cocaine inside Quade’s purse.

Charging documents state Eckrich identified the suspected substance as cocaine based on his “training, knowledge, and experience.” Court records further allege Quade waived her Miranda rights and told investigators she had forgotten the smoking device was inside her purse.

Quade was arrested at approximately 9:49 a.m. and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center pending a bond review. She was later released on personal recognizance with conditions that she not engage in criminal activity or use alcohol or controlled dangerous substances while awaiting trial.

A hearing in the drug-related case was scheduled for June 9, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court in Leonardtown.
