Dereon Jabari Foster, 18, of Lexington Park, was charged with second-degree assault following a domestic violence investigation on May 3, 2026, according to court records filed in the District Court for St. Mary’s County.

Deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 9:37 a.m. to the Lexwood Drive apartment complex in Lexington Park for a reported domestic violence incident. Deputy Dylan McDonald wrote in the statement of probable cause that he “responded to Lexwood Drive, in Lexington Park, for the report of domestic violence.”

According to court documents, deputies first questioned Foster about what had happened inside the apartment. The charging documents state Foster told deputies the adult female victim “was standing and peeing on the floor of the apartment.” Foster allegedly told deputies he then “reached down and wiped his hand in the urine on the carpet and then smeared it in the victim’s face.”

Court records state Foster claimed the victim “punched him in the face multiple times after the fact.” Deputies reported Foster had “minor abrasion above his left eye and bloody nose” when officers arrived.

Deputies also interviewed the adult female victim at the scene. According to the probable cause statement, the victim told investigators she had been “peeing on the floor in retaliation for the defendant’s verbal abuse.”

The victim further stated Foster “wiped up the urine on the floor and smeared it in the victim’s face.” The court documents then allege “the defendant immediately started strangling her, causing the victim to have difficulty breathing during it and almost loss of consciousness.”

According to the filing, the victim told deputies she “began punching the defendant (consistent with his injuries) in self-defense to try to get the defendant’s hands off her neck.”

The statement of probable cause alleges “the defendant ended up ripping the victim’s pants off in the struggle that ensued.” Court records state the altercation continued until the victim “ripped some of the defendant’s hair out,” which allegedly caused Foster to leave the apartment and stand in the hallway. “This is when the victim called the police,” according to the filing.

Court records state the victim complained that “her neck was hurting during the altercation” and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital “for precautionary check as she was pregnant.”

Investigators wrote that Foster and the victim “have been dating for one year and eight months,” and that the victim “occasionally lives at the defendant’s home for extended periods of time.” Court filings further state “the victim is currently pregnant with the defendant’s child.”

Deputies concluded that “based on subject interviews and observed injuries on scene, the defendant was determined to be the aggressor and had a potential propensity for violence to continue.”

Foster was arrested and charged with second-degree assault under Maryland Criminal Law § 3-203. Court documents state he was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Facility following the arrest.

During his initial appearance, Foster waived an attorney for that hearing. Court records state judicial officials advised him of “the importance of having an attorney” and informed him of the charges and penalties against him.

District Court Commissioner Alexis Commodore, released Foster on his own recognizance on May 3, 2026.

As conditions of release, Foster was ordered not to intimidate the adult female victim and not to contact or harass her “in person, by telephone, in writing, by electronic means, or by any other means.” He was also ordered not to go near the victim’s home and not to “abuse or threaten to abuse” her.

Additional release conditions prohibit Foster from owning or possessing “firearm, destructive device, or other dangerous weapon of any description” while the case remains pending.
