On Friday, May 8, 2026, at approximately 10:55 p.m., firefighters from St. Leonard, Prince Frederick, Solomons, Huntingtown, and Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the 5000 block of Douglas Street in St. Leonard, for the reported house on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a two-story residence with fire through the roof.
Firefighters began an aggressive interior and exterior attack and deployed multiple attack lines to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.
All occupants and pets were able to safely flee the residence, with no injuries being reported at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Approximately thirty minutes after clearing the Douglas Street call, units were called to another house fire around 2:08 a.m., on Dasher Lane in Cove Point.
Crews arrived on scene to find fire in one room and controlled the blaze in under 10 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
