Cassidy Chance Goddard, 26, of Mechanicsville, has been charged, and cited with with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while impaired by drugs or a combination of drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, negligent driving, failing to drive right of center, failing to control vehicle speed to avoid a collision, and failing to obey a traffic control device following a serious crash on the Thomas Johnson Bridge, according to court records.
Police, firefighters, and emergency medical services responded to the Thomas Johnson Bridge on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m. for a serious motor vehicle collision involving an overturned vehicle.
Crews arrived to find three vehicles involved, with no entrapment reported, and at least five patients needing evaluation.
Firefighters from Solomons, Bay District, and St. Leonard responded to the scene. While emergency medical services evaluated patients, a helicopter was requested for one adult.
At least two people signed care refusal forms at the scene.
Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 transported one patient to an area trauma center. No patient or victim names have been released.
