Zakiyra Imarie Minor, 23, of Indian Head, has been charged in Charles County District Court with second-degree escape for allegedly violating the conditions of her pretrial release while on home detention, according to court documents.

Court records state that the case began after A1 Trusted Monitoring LLC contacted the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at about 2:34 a.m. on April 27, 2026, to report an alleged violation of an electronic monitoring pretrial release agreement. The charging documents say Minor’s home detention began April 22, 2026, after she was released from the Charles County Detention Center at 3:36 p.m. that day.

According to the application for charges, Minor arrived at her verified residence  in Indian Head at 4:14 p.m. on April 22, 2026. Investigators allege she left the residence at 4:49 p.m. and told her grandmother she “did not need to be back until 9:00 PM.” The documents state Minor did not return home until 9:42 a.m. on April 23, 2026.

Court documents say A1 Trusted Monitoring sent an audio message to Minor’s ankle monitor after being notified by her grandmother, instructing Minor to “return immediately.” The application states Minor “did not comply.”

During the time she was allegedly away from home, court records say Minor made multiple unauthorized stops, including the Indian Head Inn, Buddy’s Drive Inn Liquors, McDonald’s, the Smallwood and Crain Highway Park and Ride, wooded areas along Crain Highway, Taco Bell, and Burger King.

The court documents list the terms of Minor’s pretrial release as follows: “The defendant will not engage in any criminal conduct during the period of pre-trial release, and the defendant will appear in court when required to do so.” The documents also state the home detention conditions allowed her to leave only for “medical, lawyer, and court” reasons and required her to stay at the residence in Indian Head.

An arrest warrant was issued April 27, 2026, and court records show it was served April 28, 2026. Minor had an initial appearance April 28, 2026, and a bail review hearing was held April 29, 2026, before Judge Andrea R. S. Watkins. Bond information in the case shows Minor was ordered held without bond on both April 28 and April 29, 2026.

Court records show Zakiyra has had several prior criminal cases filed in Charles County District Court before the current 2026 escape charge. The records provided include separate cases from 2024 and 2025 involving theft-related citations, a theft arrest, and drug possession charges.

In December 2024, Minor was cited in two separate theft-related cases. One citation alleges that on December 11, 2024, at Food Lion on Livingston Road in Fort Washington, she stole food items valued at less than $100. A separate citation alleges that on December 23, 2024, at a Dollar General on Indian Head Highway in Indian Head, she stole miscellaneous items valued at less than $100. Both citations list theft under $100 as the alleged offense.

In May 2025, Minor was charged in a theft case after an incident at a Waldorf Target store. According to a statement of probable cause, an officer responded to the store on Western Parkway on May 26, 2025, for a reported theft in progress. A loss prevention officer told police he saw a woman place multiple items into two luggage bags and walk past all points of sale without paying. Court documents say Minor was stopped and later identified, and the officer wrote that she declined to answer questions after being advised of her rights. The documents allege 68 items were taken, with a total value of $1,219.86.

Minor also was cited in another theft-related case from May 29, 2025, at a beauty supply business on Crain Highway in La Plata. The handwritten citation alleges she stole miscellaneous items valued at less than $100 and lists theft under $100 as the charge.

In a separate drug case filed in December 2025, Minor was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was not cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charging documents allege the incident occurred on February 24, 2025, on Garrett Avenue in La Plata. According to the application for charges, an officer responded to Charles Regional Medical Center for a report of possible child abuse and learned that Minor had an arrest warrant. During a search after that arrest, police reported finding a burnt glass smoking device, lighters, a small red container with residue, and a small yellow glassine bag with residue. The documents state Maryland State Police lab results later identified residue in the red container as cocaine.
