Laroi James Burch, 35, of Lexington Park, is facing nine drug and firearm-related charges after authorities said a search of his Radford Lane home led to the discovery of crack cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, cash, ammunition and a Polymer80 handgun without a serial number, according to District Court documents filed in St. Mary’s County.

Burch is charged with possession of a firearm without a serial number, illegal possession of ammunition, use of a firearm in a felony or crime of violence, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, possession with intent to distribute on or near school property, and possession of a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking crime. Court records list the case as open and show Burch was ordered held without bond after his initial appearance and again after a bail review on May 11, 2026.

According to the statement of probable cause, the investigation into Burch began in April 2026 and focused on his alleged involvement in distributing controlled dangerous substances. Search warrants were later executed for Burch’s residence on Radford Lane in Lexington Park, his person and his 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. Deputies said Burch was found inside the residence during the search and was identified using his Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration photograph.

Court documents state that in Burch’s bedroom, next to the bed, investigators found a plastic bag containing a cigarette pack. Inside the cigarette pack, deputies reported finding a folded piece of paper that contained a quantity of suspected crack cocaine. Deputies also reported finding two knotted plastic bags containing suspected cocaine and suspected crack cocaine. In Burch’s wallet, deputies said they found $400 in U.S. currency.

Inside the vehicle, investigators reported finding multiple paper and plastic packaging materials and a digital scale with white residue suspected to be a controlled dangerous substance. In a closet in the residence, deputies said they found a black Polymer80 handgun inside a black jacket. The handgun had a magazine inserted that contained 9 mm ammunition, according to the filing.

The court filing states that Burch and Tyrae Robinson were read their Miranda rights “in their entirety” and “advised they understood their rights.” Robinson told investigators that the jacket belonged to Burch, according to the document.

A separate notice of right to counsel included in the court file contains an acknowledgment signed by Burch stating, “I have read or have had read to me the contents of the above notice and acknowledge receipt of a copy thereof.” The notice explains that the charging document accuses the person of a crime, that the person has the right to a lawyer, and that a lawyer may assist with understanding the charges, possible penalties, trial issues and constitutional rights.

Deputies wrote that the scale, packaging, cash and suspected drugs indicated Burch was allegedly possessing the substances with the intent to distribute them. The filing also states that the handgun being in the jacket allegedly connected the firearm to the suspected drug activity.

Charging documents identify the suspected substance as crack cocaine and state the alleged activity occurred within 1,000 feet of Great Mills High School. The probable cause statement says Burch’s residence is approximately 20 feet from the property of Great Mills High School and approximately 220 feet from Carver Elementary School.

Court documents also state Burch is prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior convictions listed in the filing, including 2014 burglary and robbery convictions in Prince George’s County Circuit Court and a 2022 narcotics possession-with-intent-to-distribute conviction in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court.

The arresting and complainant officer is listed as Deputy C. Stamp with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. Court scheduling information lists a preliminary hearing for June 4, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s District Court.
