James Daniel Seifert, 33, of Lexington Park
James Daniel Seifert, 33, of Lexington Park, is facing charges across five separate St. Mary’s County District Court cases, including drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and two counts of theft under $100, according to court documents. The documents, filed between March 2026 and May 2026, stem from two reported thefts at a Weis Markets store, two drug-related charging documents connected to a March traffic stop, and a May arrest following a welfare check and traffic stop.
In the most recent case, filed May 10, 2026, Seifert was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license and privilege. A deputy with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office wrote that deputies responded around 10:30 a.m. to Midway Drive in Lexington Park for a welfare check involving an adult female who was believed to be in danger while with her boyfriend. The deputy said he later saw Seifert operating a vehicle with an adult female passenger and conducted a traffic stop on Great Mills Road near Midway Drive in Lexington Park.
According to the May charging documents, the deputy said he knew Seifert’s Maryland driver’s license was suspended and wrote that Seifert had already been stopped three times since February 23, 2026, for driving after suspension. The deputy described the May 10, 2026, stop as the fourth such occasion and said Seifert was arrested and taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. While deputies remained at the scene, the adult female passenger gave them a black bag and said it “belonged to the defendant,” according to the statement. Deputies reported finding multiple burnt stems, a spoon, suspected paraphernalia, and three suspected crack cocaine rocks inside the bag.
Two of the other cases are tied to a March 13, 2026, traffic stop near North Essex Drive and Hancock Drive in Lexington Park. In one case filed March 16, 2026, Seifert was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges listed crack cocaine, Suboxone, a “pusher,” and a “stem.”
A related charging document filed April 6, 2026, lists three charges from the same March 13, 2026, incident: two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to that application, a deputy stopped a silver Toyota Camry near North Essex Drive and Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park after recognizing the vehicle and believing Seifert was driving with a suspended Maryland license. The deputy wrote that Seifert told deputies he did not have a license through any other state.
During that stop, according to court documents, a passenger fled from the vehicle while Seifert remained at the scene. The deputy wrote that Seifert was read his rights and agreed to speak with deputies. During the interview, Seifert allegedly admitted that he had been in possession of a “stem” on his person. Deputies said a search of Seifert found a broken glass pipe with suspected residue, a clear ripped plastic item with suspected residue, and a Suboxone strip package containing suspected Suboxone. Seifert allegedly said the Suboxone was prescribed to him but could not show proof of the prescription at the scene.
Deputies also searched the Camry and reported finding a glass pipe with suspected residue, two metal “pushers,” and a cigarette box containing a red sock, several other “pushers,” and a glass smoking device in the driver’s side door pocket. The deputy wrote that a “stem” is a glass smoking device commonly used to consume crack cocaine and that a “pusher” is an object used to “push” or pack controlled substances. Court documents state that Maryland State Police laboratory testing later found a trace amount of cocaine in or on the stem and confirmed the suspected Suboxone as buprenorphine.
Seifert is also charged in two separate theft cases involving Weis Markets on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. In one case, filed March 4, 2026, he was charged with theft under $100 for an incident alleged to have occurred on February 27, 2026. Court documents state that a store security manager reported a male suspect wearing a red jacket, black pants, and black boots selected two New York strip steaks valued at $32.04 each, concealed them under his jacket, paid for one frozen entrée, and left without paying for the steaks. The total value listed in the document was $64.08.
In the second theft case, also filed March 4, 2026, Seifert was charged with theft under $100 for an incident alleged to have occurred earlier that day. Court documents state that the same store reported a male suspect entered the business, selected and concealed two Red Bull energy drinks and one Wander glazed honey bun, stood near register number 7 without paying for the concealed items, and left the store. The total value listed for those items was $9.67.
In both theft cases, deputies said the suspect was seen entering a silver Toyota Camry. The documents state that law enforcement later connected the vehicle to a February 12, 2026, traffic stop by Maryland State Police, during which Seifert was identified as the driver. A deputy wrote that Seifert was positively identified through his MVA photograph.
