Corey Coniel Contee, 55, of Lexington Park, is facing misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest on May 2, 2026, in Lexington Park, according to District Court documents filed in St. Mary’s County.
According to the statement of charges, Deputy Tyler Westphal of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that he was patrolling the area of Saratoga Drive and North Essex Drive in Lexington Park on May 2, 2026, when he saw Contee walking in the area. The deputy wrote that he knew Contee had an active arrest warrant through the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and was able to identify him based on prior law enforcement encounters.
Court documents state that the warrant was confirmed and Contee was arrested. During a search, the deputy reported finding a brown paper fold in Contee’s right jean coin pocket that contained a white rock-like substance. A further search allegedly found another rock-like substance in the liner of Contee’s ball cap. The deputy identified both substances as cocaine, according to the charging documents.
The statement of charges alleges that Contee possessed cocaine, described in the documents as a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, and that he possessed drug paraphernalia described as a brown paper fold used to contain cocaine. Both charges were marked as supported by probable cause.
After the arrest, Contee was transported to the detention center for processing. The court’s charge summary lists the potential penalty for the controlled dangerous substance possession charge as up to one year and/or a fine of up to $5,000. The paraphernalia charge is listed with a potential fine of up to $500.
At an initial appearance on May 3, 2026, Contee appeared without an attorney and waived an attorney for that hearing only, according to court records. The court noted that he was advised of his right to counsel, the charges, and possible penalties.
The court ordered Contee released on a $1,000 unsecured personal bond. Conditions of release included appearing in court when notified, not engaging in criminal conduct, and abstaining from alcohol or the abusive use or possession of controlled dangerous substances without a prescription.
