Tae’Jeaune Andrea Gray, 23, of Indian Head, has been charged in Charles County District Court with possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, possession of narcotics production equipment, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and a second count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, according to court records.

According to charging documents filed by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Officer G. Bowers reported responding at about 2:19 a.m. on May 5, 2026, to Prospect Avenue in Indian Head for a reported “bank robbery of PNC ATM.” The officer wrote that a PNC Bank security operations employee reported seeing on CCTV “two individuals dressed in all black attempting to steal at this moment.”

Court documents state that Officer Bowers later saw two males dressed in dark clothing walking westbound on Strauss Avenue in Indian Head, a short distance from the reported attempted ATM burglary. When police attempted contact, charging documents say one person ran westbound on Strauss Avenue while Gray allegedly ran toward Indian Head Highway.

Officer Bowers wrote that he chased the unknown person through yards near Charles Place, while Officer Heishman pursued Gray. According to the statement of probable cause, Gray was apprehended after a brief pursuit in the area of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head.

A search after the arrest allegedly found a yellow pill bottle with a ripped-off label in Gray’s gray sweatshirt pocket. Court documents state the bottle contained 26 Suboxone 4 mg strips with an estimated street value of $260 and one Suboxone 8 mg strip with an estimated street value of $40. The officer wrote, “Suboxone is a Schedule III controlled substance,” and added that, based on training and experience, Suboxone users “are typically never in possession of such quantity of the drug.”

Police also reported finding a glassine bag with a corner twisted off in Gray’s left pant leg, along with a digital scale with a white powdery substance in his left pants pocket. Charging documents state the officer believed the substance to be suspected cocaine and wrote that digital scales are commonly used to weigh and prepare controlled dangerous substances for street sales.

Court records say officers canvassed the area where the unknown person ran and found a large glassine bag containing suspected crack cocaine near Strauss Avenue in Indian Head. The suspected crack cocaine weighed about 11 grams and had an estimated street value of $2,200, according to the charging documents. Another suspected bag of cocaine powder was reportedly recovered in the back yard of a residence on Charles Place in Indian Head, weighing about 29.3 grams with an estimated street value of $5,860.

The charging documents state that a Thermo Scientific TruNarc Analyzer was used to test the suspected narcotics. The suspected cocaine powder tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride, and the suspected crack cocaine tested positive for cocaine base, according to the officer’s statement. Gray was then transported to the Charles County Detention Center.

At his initial appearance on May 5, 2026, Gray waived an attorney for that proceeding only, according to court records. A commissioner ordered him held without bond, citing a reasonable likelihood that he posed a danger to the safety of an alleged victim, another person, or the community. A bail review was held on May 6, 2026, before Judge Patrick J. Devine, and Gray remained held without bond.
