Glenn F Flores, 33, of Great Mills, is charged in St. Mary’s County District Court with second-degree escape related to conditions of release after authorities alleged he removed a court-ordered ankle monitor on May 8, 2026.

According to court documents, Deputy Preston Dixon of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded on May 8, 2026, to Clipper Drive in Great Mills for a reported escape. The charging document states that Flores “did knowingly remove a monitoring device required to be worn by Glenn Flores, to track said person’s location.”

In the statement of probable cause, Dixon wrote that he was contacted by Cpl. Crow of the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, who advised that Flores had cut off his ankle monitor in violation of court-ordered pretrial release conditions. Court documents state that detention center staff received an electronic “tracker strap tamper alert” at about 7:42 p.m. on May 8, 2026, indicating the ankle monitor had been cut and removed.

The documents state that the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and asked to help take Flores back into custody. Deputy Dixon reported that contact was made with Flores at the Great Mills address and that Flores “advised he cut off his ankle monitor device because it was too tight.”

Dixon wrote that Flores came outside and was placed in handcuffs without incident. The statement also says, “It was apparent that the defendant had no intent of fleeing and eluding law enforcement,” and that Flores “simply felt his device was uncomfortable and restricted his ankle movement.” Flores was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with second-degree escape related to conditions of release.

Court records show Flores was initially held without bond on May 9, 2026. After a bail review hearing on May 11, 2026, before Judge James Tanavage, he was released on recognizance. The docket also lists a public defender appearance on May 11, 2026, along with filings for a speedy trial request and discovery.

The docket further notes that Flores was found incompetent to stand trial on May 11, 2026, and that the court ordered an outpatient examination through the Maryland Department of Health related to competency. A competency hearing is scheduled for May 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in Courtroom 2 at St. Mary’s District Court, followed by a status hearing on May 27, 2026, at 1 p.m.
