Shayonna Renee Miles, 24, of Lexington Park, has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment after St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies say she used a vehicle to strike people during a May 16, 2026, disturbance in Lexington Park.

According to charging documents, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 9:09 p.m. on May 16, 2026, to the area of Franklin Road and Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park for a reported fight involving shots being fired. Investigators said they made contact with Miles, who was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The documents state the vehicle had a flat front passenger-side tire and visible hood damage that appeared consistent with being shot.

Court documents say video surveillance from the area showed the Hyundai entering Franklin Road, where occupants of the vehicle made contact with a large group of people in the roadway. Deputies wrote that “it appears a large fight occurs” involving several people in the street and occupants of the Sonata. After the fight, according to the statement of probable cause, the driver and passenger got back into the vehicle.

Investigators alleged that the driver then attempted to run people over near Franklin Road and Louden Lane. The charging documents state that after “striking what appears to be several people,” the Sonata turned into a driveway on Franklin Road and appeared to strike additional people. Deputies alleged the vehicle backed out and turned into the driveway again while people were standing there and trying to get away.

The statement of probable cause says that after the Sonata drove into the driveway and allegedly struck people a second time, “six shots can be heard on the video,” which investigators linked to the damage observed on the vehicle. Deputies wrote that Franklin Road appeared clear after the fight and that the vehicle could have driven away.

Court documents say a detective interviewed Miles after the incident. According to the statement of probable cause, Miles said she went to Franklin Road in her Sonata to confront a female subject who had fought her younger sister earlier that evening. The documents also state Miles said she and her passenger were assaulted while inside the vehicle and later got out, where they were assaulted by several people. Investigators wrote that after Miles returned to the driver’s seat, “she admitted that she attempted to run people over in the street.”

Deputies also reported speaking with an adult male victim who said the Sonata drove toward him and struck him, causing him to jump onto the hood. The documents state he had visible injuries to his left arm and both legs and said those injuries were caused by Miles’ actions. The victim’s name is being withheld.

The formal charging document alleges that Miles assaulted the adult male victim in the first degree and second degree on May 16, 2026, at Franklin Road in Lexington Park. The reckless endangerment count alleges Miles used a vehicle “to run over persons,” creating a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury.

Miles was arrested on May 17, 2026. At her initial appearance, court records show she waived an attorney for that proceeding only and was initially ordered held without bond. The initial appearance report listed release conditions including no criminal conduct, appearing in court when notified, no contact or harassment of the adult male victim, staying away from the victim’s residence and certain Lexington Park locations, and not owning or possessing firearms, destructive devices, or other dangerous weapons.

A bail review hearing was held on May 18, 2026, before Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser. Court records show Miles was released on her own recognizance with no bail amount set. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s District Court.
