The St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual awards gala on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at The White Rose in St. Mary’s County, bringing together business, community, nonprofit, and political leaders to celebrate local service, leadership, and community impact.
During the event, several community members and organizations were recognized through awards presented by the Bubby Knott Foundation.
The Carolyn E. Parker Foundation, founded by Adrienne M. Purnell-Somerville, was named the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year. The foundation was recognized for its continued work supporting youth through education, STEM initiatives, mentorship, leadership development, and the arts.
“What an incredible honor to receive the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year Award from the Bubby Knott Foundation on behalf of the Carolyn E. Parker Foundation,” Somerville said following the event. “To be recognized by the Knott family is deeply special.”
Patrice Campbell, with Building Bridges, was recognized as the Bubby Knott Philanthropist of the Year for her dedication to community outreach and service initiatives throughout the region.
Karen Knott Siebert, of Great Mills Trading Post, was honored as Business Person of the Year for her leadership and contributions to the local business community.
The annual gala highlighted the strength of St. Mary’s County’s business and nonprofit communities while also recognizing America’s upcoming semiquincentennial celebration.
Community members, nonprofit leaders, and business professionals gathered throughout the evening to celebrate the individuals and organizations working to make a positive impact across Southern Maryland.
Somerville also thanked the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce for hosting an evening focused on leadership, service, and community impact.
Congratulations to Karen Knott Siebert on receiving the Business Person of the Year Award, Adrienne M. Purnell-Somerville and the Carolyn E. Parker Foundation on receiving the Bubby Knott Nonprofit of the Year Award, and Patrice Campbell with Building Bridges on receiving the Bubby Knott Philanthropist of the Year Award.
