Jeremiah Robert Jameson, 19, of Avenue, has been charged in St. Mary’s County District Court with one misdemeanor count of obstructing and hindering after a deputy reported that he interfered with a hit-and-run investigation in Charlotte Hall, according to court documents.

The charging document states that the alleged incident happened on May 20, 2026, at Golden Beach Road in Charlotte Hall. Jameson is accused of intentionally and knowingly obstructing and hindering Cpl. Dianne Hersh of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office “in the performance of her lawful duties,” according to the statement of charges.

In the statement of probable cause, Hersh wrote that she responded to the Golden Beach Park and Ride for a reported hit-and-run accident. While in the area, she reported seeing “the individual on the green dirt bike involved in the accident” and said she activated the lights on her marked patrol vehicle. Hersh wrote that while she was turning around to follow the dirt bike and determine where the rider was going, Jameson, who she said identified himself, “walked down the center of the parking aisle and stood in front of my vehicle, yelling and preventing me from continuing my investigation.”

Hersh further wrote that she activated her siren to direct Jameson to move. According to the filing, Jameson “moved slightly but remained near the passenger side corner in front of my vehicle, throwing his hands in the air.” Hersh wrote that Jameson eventually moved enough for her to continue the investigation safely. After she parked to speak with the struck vehicle, the filing states that Jameson began walking toward her location and was told to stay back so the investigation could continue, which he complied with at that time.

Court records show Jameson appeared for an initial appearance on May 21, 2026. He was released on his own recognizance with conditions requiring him not to engage in criminal activity and to appear in court when notified. The initial appearance report states that the commissioner determined Jameson was indigent and that he was represented at the initial appearance by court-appointed attorney Tangi Turner, who appeared remotely.
