Nathaniel Warren Shaklee, 19, of Hollywood
Nathaniel Warren Shaklee, 19, of Hollywood, has been charged with 13 counts connected to an alleged burglary at Brudergarten in Leonardtown and a series of reported vehicle break-ins in the Leonardtown area, according to District Court documents filed in St. Mary’s County.
Shaklee is charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary of a store, eight counts of rogue and vagabond, theft under $100, theft of $100 to under $1,500, and theft scheme of $1,500 to under $25,000. Court records list the alleged offense date as May 14, 2026. The charging documents identify Deputy James Morgan of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office as the complainant and arresting officer.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office also said a juvenile suspect was arrested in connection with the same investigation and charged through custodial apprehension. The agency said the juvenile is not being publicly identified because of legal protections for minors. According to the Sheriff’s Office press release, Shaklee and the juvenile were each charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary-storehouse, eight counts of rogue and vagabond with intent to commit theft from a vehicle, theft scheme of $1,500 to under $25,000, theft of $100 to under $1,500, and theft less than $100. Court documents reviewed in Shaklee’s case identify the same charges against him, but the juvenile’s charging documents were not included in the court records provided for review.
According to the statement of probable cause, investigators alleged that two people were involved in a string of attempted and completed vehicle entries beginning late on May 12, 2026, and continuing into May 14, 2026. The documents describe incidents on Belmar Drive, Lindsay Drive, Satchel Paige Way, Blue Jay Lane, Goddard Street, Dorsey Street, Norris Street, and Marwood Circle in the Leonardtown and Hollywood areas. Several vehicle owners listed in the charging documents are treated here as victims and are not being named.
Court documents allege that, between about 1:07 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. on May 14, 2026, two subjects broke into Brudergarten on Duke Street in Leonardtown. The statement of probable cause says the subjects tried the front door, found it locked, jumped a rear fence, and entered through an unsecured rear door. Investigators alleged the suspects damaged cash registers and stole three bottles of alcohol valued at $82.
The charging documents allege the stolen items tied to the overall theft scheme included three bottles of alcohol, $1,200 in cash, headphones valued at about $300, and a hard case containing a Kel-Tec .40-caliber firearm, two magazines, and 13 rounds of ammunition valued at $547. The statement of probable cause lists the total value of stolen items as $2,047.79.
Investigators said video footage from Brudergarten showed Shaklee attempting to open registers before going to shelves containing alcohol. Court documents also state that video footage from another location showed a person matching the same general description leaving a victim’s driveway on Marwood Circle in Leonardtown after a vehicle burglary involving stolen headphones.
According to the statement of probable cause, a student at Leonardtown High School was later found with a pair of stolen headphones that belonged to an adult victim whose vehicle had been burglarized but had not yet been reported to police. The documents allege Shaklee, identified in part through an MVA photo, had sold the headphones for $80.
Court documents state that investigators obtained and executed search warrants on May 21, 2026, for Shaklee’s residence on McIntosh Road in Hollywood and for Shaklee’s person. During the search, investigators reported finding a black ski mask, a black North Face hooded jacket, North Face gloves, and Hey Dude-style shoes in Shaklee’s bedroom.
The statement of probable cause says a “post Miranda interview was conducted with the Defendant” and that Shaklee “admitted to the burglary at the Brudergarten, and multiple burglaries to motor vehicles in the Leonardtown area.”
At Shaklee’s initial appearance on May 21, 2026, court paperwork states that he waived an attorney for that proceeding only. The initial appearance report says, “Defendant ordered held without bond,” and lists the stated reason as a “reasonable likelihood Defendant poses danger to the safety of the alleged victim, another persons, or community.”
Release conditions listed in the court file included “Do not engage in any criminal conduct during the period of pretrial release” and “Appear in court when notified to do so.” The court also ordered Shaklee not to intimidate or contact an adult victim/witness and not to enter or be found near Brudergarten on Duke Street in Leonardtown.
A bail review was held on May 22, 2026, before Judge Robert B. Riddle. Court records show Shaklee was released on recognizance that day with no bail amount. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s District Court.
The investigation remains open. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Deputy First Class James Morgan at 301-475-4200, ext. 8170, or by email at [email protected].
